YouApp guide
How to pay with USDTin Malaysia
The short answer
You cannot hand USDT to a Malaysian merchant directly. With YouApp you top up your non-custodial wallet with ERC-20 stablecoins on Ethereum, your balance is converted to MYRT, and you scan any DuitNow QR to pay in ringgit. The merchant is paid in ringgit by licensed parties, never in crypto.

Can I pay with USDT directly at a shop in Malaysia?
No. Shops in Malaysia price and settle in ringgit. A kopitiam, a hawker stall or a mall counter will not take a USDT transfer, and no merchant is asked to.
YouApp sits in between. You hold stablecoins in your own non-custodial wallet, YouApp shows the ringgit amount and the fee before you confirm, and the merchant is paid in ringgit by licensed parties. Nothing changes at the counter.
How does YouApp let me spend crypto in Malaysia?
Three steps. Verify once, top up, then scan. After that, paying looks the same as any other QR payment in Malaysia.
| Step | What you do | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Verify | Show MyKad, passport or Singpass and pass a selfie liveness check | About two minutes, once. YouApp is verified-only |
| 2. Top up | Send ERC-20 stablecoins on Ethereum mainnet, or use DuitNow transfer or a debit or credit card | Your balance is credited after the conversion confirms |
| 3. Scan and pay | Scan any DuitNow QR, check the ringgit amount and the fee, confirm | The merchant is paid in ringgit by licensed parties |
Your YouApp wallet is non-custodial, powered by Privy, so YouApp never holds or touches your wallet funds or stablecoins. Conversion is powered by Sera, a non-custodial settlement protocol.
Which stablecoins can I top up with, and on which network?
ERC-20 stablecoins on Ethereum mainnet only: MYRT, XSGD, JPYC, IDRT and USD stablecoins. Ethereum mainnet is the only network YouApp accepts. Stablecoins sent on any other network cannot be recovered.
If you do not hold crypto, you can top up by DuitNow transfer or by debit or credit card instead. FPX is not supported.
Does it work with DuitNow QR?
Yes. YouApp scans DuitNow QR, which is accepted at more than three million merchant touchpoints across Malaysia: kopitiams, night markets, pharmacies, petrol stations, mall chains and small family shops.

If the sticker or the terminal shows a DuitNow QR, you can scan it in YouApp. You pay in ringgit and the merchant receives ringgit, so there is nothing to explain at the counter.
What does it cost, and what are the limits?
Fees are shown on screen before you confirm, every time. The YouApp fee on scan to pay is up to 1.5%. Card processing is up to 2%. Limits are RM20,000 per transaction and RM120,000 per month.
YouApp does not publish or promise an exchange rate. You see the ringgit amount you are paying and the fee, then you decide.

No. Visitors can browse YouApp without an account. To pay, you verify once with MyKad, passport or Singpass plus a selfie liveness check. It takes about two minutes and you never repeat it.
YouApp is verified-only, so every person paying has been through the same check. YouApp is built by YouApp Pte. Ltd. in Singapore and is Malaysia-first, for travellers and locals alike.
