YouApp guide
How to convert USDTto MYR
The short answer
To convert USDT to MYR with YouApp, top up your non-custodial wallet with ERC-20 stablecoins on Ethereum mainnet. The conversion is powered by Sera and your balance appears in MYRT, the Malaysia Ringgit Stablecoin, minted and redeemed 1:1 for ringgit. You then scan any DuitNow QR and pay in ringgit.

How much is USDT in ringgit?
A US dollar stablecoin is not one ringgit, so what you receive depends on the rate at the moment you convert. YouApp shows the ringgit amount and the fee on screen before you confirm, so you decide with the final number in front of you.
YouApp does not publish or promise an exchange rate, and nothing on this page is investment or tax advice. MYRT is the one figure that never moves: 1 MYRT is 1 ringgit.
How do I convert USDT to MYR in the app?
Four steps, and you only do the first one once. Your YouApp wallet is non-custodial, powered by Privy, so YouApp never holds or touches your wallet funds or stablecoins.
| Step | What you do | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Verify | Show MyKad, passport or Singpass and pass a selfie liveness check | About two minutes, once |
| 2. Send stablecoins | Send ERC-20 stablecoins to your YouApp wallet address | Ethereum mainnet only. Other networks cannot be recovered |
| 3. Conversion confirms | Nothing. Conversion is powered by Sera | Your balance is credited only after it confirms |
| 4. Balance in MYRT | Open your wallet | 1 MYRT is 1 ringgit, ready to scan and pay |
Conversion is powered by Sera, a non-custodial settlement protocol. Every payment, conversion and settlement is provided by licensed parties.
What is MYRT, and why is my balance shown in it?
MYRT is the Malaysia Ringgit Stablecoin. It is minted and redeemed 1:1 for ringgit, and its reserve is held at a licensed Shariah-compliant fund.
Your wallet balance is shown in MYRT because that is the unit you spend in Malaysia. One MYRT is one ringgit, so the number in your wallet is the number you can spend at a DuitNow QR.
How long does the conversion take?
Your balance is credited only after the conversion confirms. A blockchain transfer has to be confirmed on Ethereum mainnet first, and network conditions decide how long that takes, so it is not instant.
Once the balance shows in your wallet, you can scan and pay straight away. A top-up by DuitNow transfer or by debit or credit card does not involve a blockchain transfer at all.
What does converting and spending cost?
Fees are shown before you confirm, every time. The YouApp fee on scan to pay is up to 1.5%. Card processing is up to 2%. Limits are RM20,000 per transaction and RM120,000 per month.
There is no hidden step after you confirm. You see the ringgit amount, you see the fee, and then you decide.

What can I do with the ringgit balance?
Spend it the way anyone in Malaysia spends ringgit.
- Scan any DuitNow QR at more than three million merchant touchpoints
- Pay bills and mobile reloads in the app
- Book local hosts, guides and activities
- Earn MYRT cashback at partner merchants, hosts and activities, funded by them

Merchants are always paid in ringgit by licensed parties, so nobody at the counter has to know or care that you started with stablecoins.
Can I top up without any crypto at all?
Yes. You can top up by DuitNow transfer from a Malaysian bank, or by debit or credit card. FPX is not supported.
You still hold the same non-custodial wallet and the same MYRT balance, and you still scan the same DuitNow QR codes. Visitors can browse YouApp without an account, but you verify once before you can pay.
